HB422 Overview • Extends requirement for adopting a Safety Plan to all community (charter) schools and chartered non-public schools • Update Safety Plan every 3 years • Copies of Safety Plan and blueprints to be filed with Law Enforcement Agencies • Copies of Safety Plan and floor plan with Attorney General • Access to schools for Law Enforcement Emergency Response Training

  3. Who needs to Comply with HB 422 • Any Public School District, Community School, Chartered Non Public or Daycare Facility with more than 20 students (Except those licensed through the Ohio Dept of Jobs and Family Services)

  4. Safety Drill • Complete by April 1, 2007 then December 1st each year thereafter • 72 hour minimum prior notification to Law Enforcement advising of the location, date and time of drill • Post notification to Law Enforcement indicating completion of the drill, including location, date and time. • Keep on file at the school these notifications as compliance records

  5. Safety Plans • Copy to County Sheriff for each building • Copy to Local Law Enforcement (if applicable) • Include: Security Survey (included with Safety Plan) and full set of architectural blueprints • Must be updated every three (3) years or when any major modification to the school building necessitates changes to the plan • Upon request to local Fire Department

  6. Ohio Attorney General • Copy of Safety Plan and floor plan for each school • Send to: Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police Attn: School Safety Plan 6277 Riverside Dr. Dublin, Ohio 43017
