Concussion Procedure “When in doubt, sit them out.” • When a player exhibits signs, symptoms, etc for a potential concussion, “injury” • Stop the game and let the coach know that the student needs to be reviewed/evaluated for an “injury” • We are not physicians so the FHSAA prefers us to not diagnose that it is a concussion • Once removed from the game, the obligation of the official is over. • The player can return to the game if they are approved by a medical official • Note: It is not the responsibility of the official to police this. • When the coach puts the player back in the game the school has accepted responsibility for this player, and all medical approvals. • Recommended viewing – www.nfhslearn.com/courses/concussion
