  2. Celebrating 400th anniversary of Samuel de Champlain coming to Ontario. • Re-enacting 1615 Étienne Brûlé and Hurons-Wendats’ expedition to the Andastes. • Étienne Brûlé (first French explorer to settle in Ontario - 1610)

  3. 40 k in canoe, from Orillia to Holland River, south of Lake Simcoe. 85 k on foot from Holland Landing to Toronto. • In three days… an exploit ! • Portage de Toronto is reviving in a historical manner !

  4. 2014 Ontario Budget p. 83 In 2015, Ontario will commemorate Samuel de Champlain’s passage through the province and celebrate the 400th anniversary of French presence in Ontario. This celebration will bring together people from around the world to focus on the important cultural, social and economic contributions that Franco-Ontarians have made to the province.

FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 11th 2015 Orillia • 2 p.m. - Samuel de Champlain French-languageelementaryschoolisinvitingstudents and parents to take part in an official celebration at Orillia municipal park • Official celebrations at the foot of Champlain’s statue • Speeches - Mayor, local MP and MPP, dignitaries (Ministersetc) • Re-enactment of Champlain and Etienne Brule in Cahaiague (today Orillia) by the Societe d’histoire de Toronto and the Barrie Canoe and Kayak Club • 4 p.m. - Meeting withofficialsfrom Orillia, MPPs and MPs

  8. SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 12th 2015 TEAM 1 Orillia - Day of canoeing • 8:30 a.m. – En route! Canoes departing Orillia. • 2 p.m. – Team 1 in Bradford, new French-language school is being officially opened. • 2:30 p.m. - Official Ceremony at French-language school with local Maor, MPP, MP

  9. SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 12th 2015 TEAM 2 50 k walk – start in Bradford - to Kleinburg • 5 a.m. - Bradford, all hands on deck • 8 a.m. – Reaching Nokiidaa Trail - WalkingTogether – Marcher Ensemble • Noon - Aurora • 3 p.m. – Oak Ridges Moraine Trail – King City • 6:30 p.m. – Arrive in Kleinburg

  10. Saturday September 12th TEAM 1will canoefrom Orillia to Bradford, TEAM 2 startshike in Bradford to Kleinburg Team 1 rejoins Team 2 after official celebrations at new French languageschool in Bradford. About 4 p.m. Both groups reach Kleinburg by Saturday eveningaround 6:30 p.m.

  11. Sunday September 13th • Team 1 and Team 2 hike from Kleinburg to Etienne Brule Park in Toronto • 6:30 a.m. – Leave Kleinburg • 4:30 p.m. – Arrive at Old Mill in Toronto (Etienne Brule Park)
