Purpose of the Rookie Instructor Course • Aim: • To provide aquatics trainers the knowledge, skills and ability to train and assess the RLSS UK Rookie Lifeguard programme
Course Outcomes: • By the end of this course candidates will have gained: • Basic knowledge of the Society, it’s structure, Rookie Lifeguard and other award programmes • An understanding of basic Lifesaving and Life Support skills to deliver the Rookie Lifeguard programme

RLSS UK Rookie Lifeguard overview • Aim of the Rookie programme: To prepare Rookies to take better care of themselves, their family and friends and to give them the information they need to promote water safety in their day to day activities • Target age 8-12 years • Three stages (Bronze, Silver, Gold) which are each split into three levels (e.g. Bronze level 1, Bronze Level 2 and Bronze Level 3)
