THE CHRISTIAN ATHEIST “They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him…” (Titus 1:16).
Praying “In Faith” • James 1:5-6; 5:16 • The “church” prayed for Peter – Acts 12:5. • Was it “in faith”? • Jesus promise – Matt. 18:19-20 • Persevere in prayer – Luke 18:1 • Acts 12:12-18 – God can work wonders without us! Prayer is our petition to a God who wants to bless us. • Do we really believe this?
“I’ve Repented, But I Can’t Change” • I Cor. 6:9-11 • Change isn’t automatic – It’s a daily struggle – Phil. 3:10-14. • Real, but not instant! • Realize how imperative it is to obey – James 1:22. • Jesus said this also – John 13:17 • Romans 8:28-30: Justified – Sanctified – Glorified. • “…Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion…” Phil. 1:6.
“The Church Isn’t What It Should Be” • Look how Jesus prized the church: • His Bride – Eph. 5:25-27; Rev. 19:7, 21:2, 9 • His body – I Cor. 12:18-29-0 • A building (His true temple) – Eph. 2:20ff; I Pet. 2:5 • A plant – John 15:5 • His flock – John 10:11 • His Kingdom – Col. 1:12-14 • His family – Eph. 2:19
Isn’t It Time for “Us” to Really Believe? • We who claim to love God, but trust Him only a little? • Has He ever answered your prayer? (with a yes, or a no, or a later) • Have you modified you behavior since you came to know Him? • Are you working in His church?
