  2. Assignment 1Symbols for CSR • On this slide you can see the logo, which was created by myself by combining two pictures. From my point of view, it gives the essential meaning of CSR: taking actions today in order to make the world better for the future. I’m sure if every company in the world would spend some money on CSR activities, we would live in the pure environment and the vast majority of social problems would be solved. Everything is in our hands.

His speech is focused on the idea that CSR is the new way to choose and to measure your employer. It is one of method to prove employees that the company is worth of being worked for. The workers should have a strong feeling of making a difference either to the local community, or to the world they live in. My choice was based on my interest in the business of KPMG Company. Moreover, I absolutely agree with the main mentioned thoughts.

Assignment 3Vladimir Yakunin - President of Russian Railways • Corporate social responsibility plays a crucial role for the Russian Railways at every stage of managerial decision-making and is an important factor in the Company’s dynamic development. Vladimir Yakunin was appointed president of Russian Railways in June 2005. Since that period he has established the social development activities in the company. • In October 2007, he was awarded the medal “Honoured Rail Employee of Russian Railways” for his great contribution to implementing measures to reform rail transport, elaborating the development strategy of Russia’s railways, ensuring a constructive social policy and effective cooperation with Russia’s government and regions and with foreign railway administrations and international organizations.

Vladimir’s achievements • He has founded an innovative department responsible for social development in the company • Since that period: • on average company has spent 717,2 million euros annually on social activities • emissions from stationary sources decreased by 9, 5 thousand tons • Direct water consumption fell by 6, 3 million cubic meters, indirect – by 13, 3 million cubic meters (17,5%). This reduction is due to the introduction of resource-saving technologies • Approximately 20 hectares of land were restored • The company sponsored professional sport and athletics teams Many of these have won several championship titles both in Russia and internationally. • Russian Railways has developed a special sports programme based on the Strategy for the Development of Health, Fitness and Sport at Russian Railways up to 2012.

  6. Plans for the future development of CSR Yakunin was reappointed President of Russian Railways on 12 June 2008. He has approved the new strategy of CSR to the company for 2030 for several directions I have chosen Vladimir’s personality because of his great contribution to the development of CSR both in Russians Railways Company and in Russia on whole, because there were no real good examples of establishing effective CSR policies.

  7. Assignment 4MiraMed • MiraMed is a US-based charity working in Russia, is to promote CSR and help society. Summer volunteers at The name MiraMed is word combination. The word “Mir” means is Russian both peace and world.“Med” is for medicine or healing. • I have chosen Miramed because of both their national impact and real results of their work.

  8. Description • MiraMed is a nonprofit public charity, registered with the U.S. government. The organization is also registered in Russia as a representative office of a nonprofit charity. All contributions are tax-exempt. MiraMed do not use any commercial fund-raising organization or individual or professional "grant writers". • Sponsors in Russia: Procter & Gamble, Severstal, Aurora Russia and others.

Scope of MiraMed’s business activity. • MiraMed has been working in Russia since 1991. • Social protection programs for Russian orphans include humanitarian aid, education and training at MiraMed Centers for Social Adaptation in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Uglich that help orphans re-enter society with the skills they need to live a safe and meaningful life. • They organize short and long term volunteer programs give adults from around the world the opportunity to live and work in Russia and make a personal difference. • MiraMed has founded anti-trafficking programs protect Russian girls and young women from being trafficked overseas. MiraMed founded the Angel Coalition, the first and now the largest, most successful anti-trafficking coalition in Russia whose members provide public education and training and support for the rescue, return and rehabilitation of trafficking survivors.
