What Is The Friend To Friend Network? • The Friend to Friend Network is a nonprofit tax-exempt organization created inJuly 2004 to help Union Pacific employees, retirees and their families (spouses and children) in time of need. • Over the years the charity has helpedhundreds of railroad families who suffered major tragedies including weather disasters, major health problems, fires and evacuations from their family home. • The Union Pacific Friend to Friend Network is run by active and retired employees of the Union Pacific Railroad.100% of the donations collected go directly to the railroad families in need
What Will Friends Do For You? The Friend to Friend Network provides monetary benefits to active and retired employees, their spouses and children who have suffered health or dwelling-related tragedies. The Friend to Friend Network does not provide monetary benefits in cases of financial need that are not directly related to a health or dwelling-related tragedy
How Can People Donate To Friend To Friend? Any individual or organization can contribute by cash or check. Active Union Pacific employees can take advantage of payroll deduction for their monthly contributions. Anyone who is not an active employee, including retirees and spouses, can take advantage of online banking & billpay to make one time or monthly donations to the Friend to Friend Network. Members of Union Pacific’s Fund for Effective Government (FFEG), are able to designate Friend to Friend as their matching gift recipient. All donations are 100% tax-deductible.
You Can Help Railroad Families Like These: A UP employee & spouse were vacationing in a mountain cabin. A gas leak in the cabin ignited and both sustained severe burns to their bodies & lungs. They were put into an induced coma while their lungs got better. They are doing better today, the employee is back to work and promoting payroll deduction.
You Can Help Railroad Families Like These: A retired UP employee needed a wheelchair ramp on their house. An application was put in to help put the ramp on the house. The labor was done by volunteer UP employees. The retired UP employee has now passed away and the ramp was moved to another employee who needed a ramp on his house.
You Can Help Railroad Families Like These: Two new UP employees on their way to work were involved in a car accident. The pickup they were riding in was forced off a bridge by another vehicle. A gravel truck was forced off behind them and landed on top of their pickup truck. Both employees suffered spine damage. One employee has returned to work the other is still off and may not be able to return. They both had only been working for UP for 6 months.
Where do the contributions come from? 2010 Donations In December 2010 the network received a total of $36,024 from 4,355 employees that donated through payroll deduction at an average of $8.27 each

You may know about a railroad family in need right now who qualify for assistance Just call the Friend To Friend 24 Hour Toll-free Helpline at (800) 457-7962 Once your application is received and reviewed a check will be written and mailed to every qualified applicant – usually the next day!
How Much Money Can People Expect? Each case will be looked at individually as to the amount of funds that will be distributed, but not exceeding $1000
Can You Use Friends More Than Once? There is only one donation considered for each request. Additional applications can be made if a new need develops.
