  2. In the Beginning • Converse started in 1908 • The company only had galoshes and other rubber shoes • The shoes were winterized for women, kids, and men • In 1910, Converse was producing more than 4,000 shoes daily. 1912 Converse made shoes for tennis.

  3. Converse All-Star’s • Basketball was revolutionized as the world’s first performance basketball shoe in 1917. • Charles H. Taylor introduced basketball as a sport across the country.

  4. Change’s in the company • Nike ruled the basketball world through the 1970’s. Nike purchased Converse for $305 million and joined the Massachusetts company. • Converse shoe began as earth tone colors trimmed in black. Later they came in black canvas and leather.

  5. More changes in the company • Converse shoe were made canvas upper, rubber bottom, toe box, and cushioned sole. • Converse now can be found in low top, and boot type. • One may find them worn with suits or tuxedos.

  6. The outcome of Converse • One may find Converse in plaid and solid colors. • They can also be found in high top shoes.
