Study-Tour Specifics AN AGENDA THAT AUGMENTS THE MITP ACADEMIC COMPONENT Demystify Trade related Institutions, their Activities and Processes whilst Bridging the Gap between Theory and Practice. • At the Nexus: • Core Institutions – UNCTAD/WTO/ITC/WIPO • Mandates & Functional Institutional Dynamics. • Transfer of Knowledge and Open Dialogue. • Our Aim: • Synthesize Knowledge Garnered during Academic Component. • Build Functional Relationships. • Lay the Foundation for Competent Analyses.

Study-Tour Description • 4 Weeks (3 in Geneva & 1 in Brussels on previous occasion). • Workshop/seminar format with open discussion. • Mobility – make visits to institutions. • Combination of general trade issues, developing/ LDC, and Caribbean-specific topics. • Simulation exercises & hands-on application. • Key resource persons across relevant institutions. • Interaction with missions & delegates.

Study-Tour – the Future • Formal collaboration with CARICOM Missions regarding accreditation to official meetings. • Greater student participation – perhaps group presentations followed by comments/guidance from facilitators. • Specialist attention – perhaps a week where students can spend time at a trade-related institution of their choice. This also facilitates specialized research guidance on the Practicum Paper topic. • Embracing researchers/practitioners who are interested in participating in the tour.
