Step 3: Monitor • First monitored progress for midterm • Reflected and saw I was starting to make progress • Changed product idea from paper to posting on wiki • Monitored while researching more thoroughly • Narrowed focus to just cell phone use in schools not relationships • Reflected and saw that I was making good progress • In addition to posting on wiki, I added the idea of a PowerPoint to demonstrate what learned

6. Findings: • Goal: Learn about role of cell phones in education • Intro: I learned that cell phones can be used in many ways that I had never thought of before. Of course students like the idea, but teachers/schools are hesitant because of the many negative ideas we have about cell phones. Through my examination, I see that the positives may outweigh the negatives. It all depends on the teacher and their style.

How to Overcome Issues • Lack of access to cell phone • Do survey before attempting to see how many have phones and what features they have to see if worth it • Share/collaborate • Talk to company about funding/supplying cell phones for education • Ask for old phones/donations • Safety (cyberbullying/personal info/predators) • Talk with students about safety before, during, and after use • Monitor use • Set up limits • Never give out personal info • Make sure to provide safe sites/resources • Emphasize importance of respecting one another and potential negative results such as leading to suicide

Evaluate/Extend • I have met my goal and subgoals • Approach of taking steps, planning, and researching were successful • I could have used a concept map to show relationship among ideas • I could have created better deadlines for myself on how much research I should have done by certain time • Next time I should start of making sure my goal is not too much • Extend: I could further explore how cell phones do affect relationships or how tablets, the next size up, portable computer-like device can be used in classrooms
