5. Prewriting Strategies A method used by writers to generate and clarify ideas. Examples: brainstorming, clustering, freewriting, keeping a journal, asking questions

7. Freewriting Process of generating a lot of information by writing non-stop. Example: Freewrite on a given topic for 5-10 minutes non-stop. **Generating ideas is what is important, not the grammar or spelling. **

Freewriting helps to narrow the topic through elimination and helps the writer to generate relevant points about the topic.
11. Brainstorming Also referred to as listing, is a process of generating a lot of information within a short time by building on the association of previous terms or thoughts mentioned.
