Of course the power supply supplies power to the rest of the computer.
Power supplies convert the power from the main power line and change it into power that the power supply can transfer to the rest of the computer.
Usually supplies around 100 to 127 volts in North America and 220 to 240 volts in the rest of the world. But there are some that can switch between 115 and 230 volts.
The power output is rated based on what the computers maximum power output is, which is usually 300 to 500 Watts.
Information about each power supply can be found on its side.
The life of power supplies is measured by their average time between failures. That usually will be around 100,000 hours but can be up to 200,000 hours based on the model.
