Develop Industry Knowledge Source Information on the Hairdressing Industry Being able to access sources of information is essential to further develop your knowledge and skills and maintain an awareness of issues, changes and events within the hairdressing industry. Information sources may include: • media • reference books • libraries • industry journals/magazines • internet sites • industry associations • unions • colleagues, supervisors and managers/ personal observation and experience • industry contacts, mentors and advisers.

Develop Industry Knowledge Work ethics and industry expectations Defined as the moral principles or rules of conduct, professional work ethics are a part of what is expected from you in the hairdressing industry. In the context of the hairdressing industry, ethical behaviour is professionalism at the highest possible standard. Ethical principles and industry expectations include: • honesty • Trust • responsibility • confidentiality • respect • fairness • initiative • empathy/caring. Information and experience in these areas are valuable as there will be many times that your work ethics will come in handy to deal with situations and assist in effective work performance.
