  1. (Joh 20:30) And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: (Joh 20:31) But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

  3. (Joh 3:22-30) After these things came Jesus and his disciples into the land of Judaea; and there he tarried with them, and baptized. And John also was baptizing in Aenon near to Salim, because there was much water there: and they came, and were baptized. For John was not yet cast into prison. Then there arose a question between some of John's disciples and the Jews about purifying. And they came unto John, and said unto him, Rabbi, he that was with thee beyond Jordan, to whom thou barest witness, behold, the same baptizeth, and all men come to him. John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven. Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him. He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled. He must increase, but I must decrease.

  4. I. Showing kindness in our Conduct

  5. A. Setting the stage

(Joh 4:1-5) When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John, (Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,) He left Judaea, and departed again into Galilee. And he must needs go through Samaria. Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.

  8. JEWISH RABBI REGULATIONS If a Jewish Rabbi was caught walking through Samaria and talk to a women of Samaria, he was stripped of his Rabbi position for life, his land and property was confiscated and his name removed from the temple role.

  9. JEWISH RABBI REGULATIONS If a rabbi were to spend the night, his family would be ostracized for 5 generations and he would be executed

  10. B. Conduct that gets their attention

  11. (Joh 4:6-9) Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour. There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink. (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.) Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.

  12. She is coming to the well around 12 noon because she was not socially accepted by the other women of that area. Therefore must come at the heat of the day. • She has been married 5 times • She knew a Jewish rabbi would never speak to their wives in public let alone a women of hear degree • She also knew that a Jew would never drink from a cup that she had drank from.

  13. (1Co 15:58) Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

  14. (Joh 4:34) Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work. (Joh 17:4) I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

  15. (1Co 12:27) Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.

(Luk 4:18-19) The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

  17. (Jud 1:22) And of some have compassion, making a difference: (Mat 14:14) And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.

  18. (1Jn 3:17) But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? (1Jn 3:18) My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

  19. II. Showing kindness in our Conversation

  20. A. Our conversations must be compelling

  21. (Joh 4:10-12) Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water. The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water? Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?

  22. (Col 4:6) Let your speech be alwaywith grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.

  23. B. Our conversations must be clear

  24. (Joh 4:13) Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: (Joh 4:14) But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

  25. C. Our conversations must be convicting

  26. (Joh4:15-21) The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw. Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither. The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband: For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly. The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet. Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.

  27. D. Our conversations must be with correctness

  28. (Joh4:22-26) Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.
