  1. pp 158 Residuals – news, update proceduresTome Anticic NA61 collaboration week, June6 2011

  2. MTPC sector subdivision Y: 110 cm, 15 bins (7.46 cm each) 6750 bins, Each direction, and sector separately X: 70 cm, 9 bins 1 cm each 7 bins 7.3 cm each 9 bins 1 cm each Y X Millepede: proper track residual minimization Z Z: 78 cm, 18 bins (4.3 cm each) anticic@irb.hr

  3. Updated procedure • The last few months several new issues/procedures considered concerning residual determination: • Kalmanfitter implemented in the procedure – improves local residual determination • However, use standard r3d to get geometry of detectors • Much looser cuts for event and track selection used, as otherwise some large local inhomogeneities missed, as well as detector offsets anticic@irb.hr

  4. X residuals before residual corrections pp 158 Gev 2009 All plots +- 1 mm range Hi resolution sectors (as well as much higher statistics sectors) anticic@irb.hr

  5. X residuals after residual corrections/updated geom All plots +- 1 mm range anticic@irb.hr

  11. Before/after Y residuals for updated geometry for pp 158 Black - before Red - after MTL Y V1 Y V2 Y MTR Y significant improvement for MTPC Y anticic@irb.hr

  12. pp 158 2009 updated geometry – change in pp31 2009? X Y X X MTPCL Y Y X V1 Y V2 Small change in Y. anticic@irb.hr MTPCR

  13. Y residuals after residual corrections- Kalman fit Extremely smooth, since the 1st point in a detector has much more weight than last point of previous detector Kalman thus better to get local residual corrections For offsets and rotations use standard R3D tracker anticic@irb.hr

  14. MTPC L y – Kalman fit, residuals corrected Iddet 10 (V1+MTPCL) Iddet 14(V1+V2+MTPCL) Iddet 12(V2+MTPCL) BY Y Residuals vs row of MTPCL anticic@irb.hr

  15. conclusion • Several issues concerning residual corrections addressed and solved • Stable procedure to get geometry and residual offsets, involving combination of Kalman and R3D fitter • For 2009 geometry changed for pp 158 GeV. This does not influence much the pp31 GeV 2009 data. • To do/decide: • put all this in database – discussions with Seweryn, should be no problem. • Different geometries for different data sets? As one can not fully entangle geometry from residuals, this should be OK. • The updated geomtry for 2009 pp 158 – does it influence TOF? Tanja should give Maja the updated geometry file, so it can be run for a few test runs. anticic@irb.hr
