THE VISION IMANI Multi-Cultural Center is a non-profit organization that operates primarily for charitable, literacy, and educational purposes. Mission – To empower those in need within our diverse and multicultural communities.” Education Employment Basic Skills
BACK GROUND • IMANI has been in operation since July 15, 2008 • Approximately 47 Refugee families have come to Fredericksburg since its inception • Approximately 15 families arrive per year • Refugee families come from various countries such as: Burundi, Congo, Somalia, Sudan, Ethiopia, Liberia and many camps in Kenya, Tanzania, Turkey, Ghana, Egypt, Jordan, and Sierra Leone.

THE PROCESS • We held Brain Storming Sessions to find the most effective means of providing, jobs and a sense of independence to function in society - What resources did we have at our disposal - Location – Munira had the building and land - People - willing to put in the time and work - Skills- refugees were farmers in their country - Needs analysis (education, language, basic skills, jobs) - The Learning Center Concept was born

TEAM’S MISSION • Establish a training and resource center that would allow members of the IMANI community to gain independence and necessary skills needed to lead productive and fulfilling lifestyles here in the United States. We began this process by creating a training and resource center.
