Knowing and doing the will of godpart one Ephesians 1:17-2:10 Emphasis on verses 2:4-7
Saul of Tarsus, before Christ • Saul of Tarsus, religious zealot • Saul of Tarsus, one of the crowd • Saul of Tarsus, self made man
God’s Will for LOST (2 Peter 3:9) • “9The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” • The will of God for the lost is that they should come to repentance.
Precursor to Knowing His Will • We CANNOT discover what God wants us to DO in life until we first discover what God wants us to BE in life!
What It Means To BE Lost (Ephesians 2:12) • LOST means dead in trespass and sin • LOST means walking according to this worldly age • LOST means subject to spirit of disobedience • LOST means we are strangers and aliens to the promise • LOST means we are far off from God
What God wants us to BE in life(EPHESIANS 2:4-7) • “4But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.”
Three Things God Wants You To Be • God wants you to BE SAVED • God wants you to BE CONFORMED To the image of Christ • God wants you to BE SPIRITUALLY MINDED
Wrapping Up • Knowing and doing the will of God begins with BEING what God wants us to be: saved, conformed to image of His Son, and spiritually minded. • Question: how do my priorities and actions demonstrate my growing relationship with Christ?
