Back to Basics • This seminar is to review your research skills over the last couple of terms. • We will be going over some orthopedic key terms; definitions, abbreviations, spelling etc… • First Back to the basics of transcription in regards to operative reports.
Operative Reports • Headings: • Preoperative diagnosis • Postoperative diagnosis • Keep in mind when the doctor says “same” for the postoperative you are to type what he/she stated in the preoperative. For example: PREOPERATIVE DIAGNOSIS: Cervical disk disease with progressive radiculopathy. POSTOPERATIVE DIAGNOSIS: Cervical disk disease with progressive radiculopathy.
Operative report continued • Operation or Procedure or both (If there are more than one enumerate).
