The Student Wellbeing Centre Induction2013 • In Student Wellbeing we provide various types of support, both face to face and web-based. • Appointments are offered at both City Campus and Headingley Campus • We also work in partnership with the Students’ Union, charitable groups and local service providers to ensure you get the support you need • Explore our webpages to find full details of our services, as well as a wide range of self help materials, podcasts and apps to support your wellbeing • In this presentation, we’ll let you know what face to face support is available, and how to access it. ”
The Student Wellbeing Centre Types of Appointment • one-off wellbeing appointments where you can discuss issues affecting you and receive practical information and advice • short-term counselling (normally up to 4 sessions) • support from a mental health practitioner • We also offer a range of workshops throughout the year • While we are not an emergency service, on our webpage you can find details of how to get out of hours support: https://www.leedsmet.ac.uk/studenthub/urgent-support.htm ”
The Student Wellbeing Centre More about our types of appointment • Wellbeing Appointment : • practical guidance, support and self help • You will meet with a wellbeing practitioner to: • Talk about your concerns • Gain support to help you understand the issues you have and how they are affecting you • Identify practical steps to make positive changes • Receive a range of self-help materials to work through any problems you are experiencing ”
The Student Wellbeing Centre More about our types of appointment • Short-term Counselling (4 sessions) • talk in confidence with someone independent and impartial about anything that is on your mind • talking one to one with a trained and experienced counsellor can help you manage difficult situations and feelings • your counsellor will listen to you in a non-judgemental way, try to help you to make sense of what is happening, explore options, and help you plan a way forward ”
The Student Wellbeing Centre More about our types of appointment • Mental health practitioner support and advice • You can meet with an experienced practitioner to receive: • Information, guidance or advice about specific mental health difficulties and where to get further help • On-going individual support and planned therapeutic interventions to help you manage life at university • Help for you to resolve academic/course problems arising from your current state of wellbeing • Assistance can also be provided to make referrals and liaise with other professional services outside of the University if needed ”
The Student Wellbeing Centre • Workshops aimed at promoting your wellbeing run throughout the year. • Semester 1 workshops: • Adapting to University Life • Four Wednesday afternoons at Headingley Campus • from 2nd-23rd October • Managing exam and assessment stress • Three Wednesday afternoons at HeadingleyCampus from 13th-27th November. • Mindfulness • Weekly on Thursdays at HeadingleyCampus from 26th September • To attend workshops, register through the myHublink on the Student Hub webpage ”
