In partnership with other Professional Services and the Student Services Department, it deals with queries and payment of accommodation and tuition fees and provides general information and advice regarding graduation, student funds, and exams in particular. The Centre is staffed by trained advisers who aim to answer 80% of all queries at the front desk. Our advisers can be contacted by e-mail, telephone, voicemail, letter or fax. There is also a referral system for students requiring specialist advice from the services outlined below.  Accommodation Service Tel: 023 8059 5959 (x25959 internal) E-mail: accommodation@soton.ac.uk Provides administration, information and support to the University Community in all aspects of student housing in halls of residence and the private rented sector. In addition we offer a free, confidential advisory service and a wide range of handbooks, leaflets and checklists covering the full range of housing topics. Student Financial Support Tel: 023 8059 3287 (x23287 internal) E-mail: stufunds@soton.ac.uk Provides advice for those students wishing to apply for the Access to Learning Fund which offers non repayable Grants, Access to Higher Education Bursaries, Post-Graduate Bursaries, and repayable Short Term Loans. We also collate information regarding Scholarships and Studentships, in order to advise students effectively, and work in partnership with the Student Loan Company in administering the University Bursary Scheme. Fees Office Tel: 023 8059 9599 (x29599 internal) E-mail: ssc@soton.ac.uk Manages the financial accounts for tuition, accommodation, library and miscellaneous fees for students and visitors. Produces reminders to students for outstanding fees or debts to the University. Exams Office Tel: 023 8059 2823(x22823internal) E-mail: exams@soton.ac.uk Helps students and staff with any administration relating to three main exam periods including arranging accommodation here and overseas, producing and publishing the exam timetable, making arrangements for students with additional exam requirements and arranging exam invigilation. Graduation Office Tel: 023 8059 3620(x23620internal) E-mail:graduation@soton.ac.uk Web:www.soton.ac.uk/graduation Organises graduation ceremonies, liaising with students, staff and guests. The Graduation website provides Frequently Asked Questions, links to service providers and online forms to reserve your place at Graduation Ceremonies. Diagnostic assessment/provision of specialised academic study skills tuition. Mentors (support tutors) help students to manage their course. Delivery of Talks and Workshops in Schools and Faculties Careers Advisers deliver appropriate tailored talks and workshops in schools and faculties to meet the needs of students. Careers Events Six major annual careers fairs providing details of local part-time jobs as well as local, national and international vacation placements and graduate opportunities.Regular evening presentations by many of the UK’s top graduate recruiters. Careers Programmes covering popular career opportunities, applications, interviews, psychometric testing, mock interviews. Careers GuidanceIndividual help with career choice, job seeking, further study options, applications and interviews. Careers Information Centre (Building 3, Highfield) Open throughout the year to both current students and graduates who have completed their studies within the last three years. Reference material includes books, journals, DVDs and CD- Roms. Take away information covering a wide range of graduate careers. Careers Service Website E-Jobs vacancy database advertising term time vacancies, vacation placements and graduate opportunities. Career Compass career planning tool, up to date information tailored to help Southampton students and graduates with their career planning. Southampton Careers Network Comprehensive profiles of hundreds of Southampton graduates providing students with a uniquedatabase of contacts who can help them to explore a wide range of careers and organisations. Services to Employers Provision of high quality services for employers to enable them to promote their opportunities to Southampton students and graduates. DLHE Statutory Return Collection, analysis and distribution of graduate destination information.
