  1. Utah Hydrography Stewardship Program By Cindy Clark Automated Geographic Reference Center April 24, 2007

  2. State agency – Utah Automated Geographic Reference Center (AGRC) – single entity that the USGS and others interface with • Reliance on network coordination through the Utah Interagency Hydrologic Users Group (IHUG) • Partnership strategy: Overview: • Federal • State • Local • Native American

  3. State-wide interface between Utah AGRC and federal, Native American, state, and local governmental agencies, entities, and organizations for the programmatic coordination of the stewardship program • Coordinate with all NHD users in the State • Also GIS user groups and geospatial coordinating organizations in Utah • Identify and/or review new programmatic and/or technical procedures (computer programs) that will offer improvements to the program Utah IHUG

  4. AGRC as Steward of the database • USGS Utah Water Science Center • US Forest Service, BLM, Corps of Engineers, • FWS, NPS, NRCS, and USGS • State Agencies, DEQ, DWQ, UDOT, • County Representatives, and Regional User Groups • And others Utah IHUG Membership:

  5. Utah has a MOU: • In draft • Incorporates both high-res NHD and the Watershed Boundary Dataset (WBD) • Review completed by Utah AGRC and the USGS Utah Water Science Office • Pending review by the IHUG membership

  6. State responsibilities and adjacent state coordination: • Utah responsible for the “core” sub-basins; i.e. those sub-basins solely in Utah • Coordinate revisions with adjacent states those sub-basins that are shared • Identify hydrologic POCs for those states

  7. USGS NGTOC USGS GEODATABASE USGS coordination through the USGS State Geospatial Liaison and representative on the IHUG USGS NSDI PARTNERSHIP OFFICE LIAISON Overall programmatic coordination through Utah AGRC UTAH AGRC UTAH INTERAGENCY HYDROLOGIC USERS GROUP State-wide interface coordination COUNTIES FEDERAL AGENCIES NATIVE AMERICANS GIS USER GROUPS OTHER GROUPS STATE AGENCIES

  8. Errors or Additions in NHD in Utah • What to do, DO NOT CORRECT, REPORT • Document the error or additions • Shapefile or Geodatabases • Feature Metadata • Submit Feature and metadata to AGRC • AGRC will do the maintenance and submit the corrected data to USGS for reintegration into the National Geodatabases. • AGRC will update their database after USGS
