  4. Fine vs. Course Focus • Course focus- for focusing on low power objective. • ONLY USE ON LOW POWER!!! • Fine focus- for use on high power objective

  5. Using the Microscope • Place slide so center of slide is directly over the light source. • Always start on lower power • Use course adj. knob to get specimen in focus. • Switch to high power objective. • Use fine adj. knob to get specimen in focus.

  6. Preparing a Wet Mount Slide • Get this slice of specimen and place on center of slide. • Put one drop of water over specimen. • Place coverslip at 45 degree angle and drop on slide.
