Goal Setting • Make sure the goal you are working for is something you really want, not just something that sounds good. • A goal can not contradict any of your other goals.
Goal Setting (cont’d) • Develop goals in all areas of life: health, family, community, business • Write your goal in the positive instead of the negative. • Write your goal out in complete detail.

Community Map • Creating a Community Map enables you to become familiar with the interrelationships of the people and geography of your whole community.
Community Mapping Identifying the following five aspects allows residents to build a map of their community: 1. Boundaries: A community’s boundaries, or external edges, show the turf to its residents. 2. Pathways: Streets, bike trails and walkways provide for the comings and goings of pedestrians and vehicles.
Continued…. 3. Gathering places: Gathering places within the community are squares, shopping malls, plazas, building complexes and other places interchange. 4. Key Landmarksto which people attach special significance: A community has distinguishing features which “define it” and “make it” unique. 5. Neighborhoods: Communities are composed of smaller internal units that are defined by the boundaries and pathways.
