  1. CRACKING DOWN GLOBAL WARMING BY RECYCLING CO2 Guided by: Prof.(Dr.) Payodhar Padhi Presented by: Shakti S. Rout L.B. Om Prakash Sambit M. Dash Debasis Mishra Santanu Ku. Mitra KONARK INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY BHUBANESWAR, ORISSA Copy right reserved by TeamAROHAN

  2. INTRODUCTION • Carbon forms the structure of all life on Earth. • Carbon dioxide (CO2) is the major greenhouse gas. • Currently atmospheric CO2 concentrations are increasing at a rate of about 3.2 Pg C per year. • We can control the CO2 concentration by recycling it and provide more stress on GREEN ENGINEERING. 3. CO2 IS VALUABLE, DON'T WASTE IT, RECYCLE IT! Total CO2 emission by 2010 is 9 giga ton Copy right reserved by TeamAROHAN

  4. METHODOLOGY CO2 capture & storage • Design a suitable bypass duct at the power plant site i.e. near chimney • Estimation of CO2 gas • Design a gate nano membrane to separate CO2 from exhaust gas using a force balance approach and reactive multiphase flow. • Capture CO2 using absorbent (NANO) CO2 recycling Copy right reserved by TeamAROHAN

  5. PROPOSED EXPERIMENTAL SET UP (NANO MENBRANE) Copy right reserved by TeamAROHAN

  6. The conversion of CO2 to fuel • CO2 is that it is a highly stable gas • The new technique enables the conversion of CO2 into fuels. • The new technique is a suitable alternative . • In the first stage, water molecules are converted to free 'protons' (hydrogen ions), electrons and oxygen gas. • Water molecules • In the second stage, free electrons are used to reduce the CO2 and bind the carbon atoms together using platinum and palladium catalysts . sunlight O 2 + H+ + e- Ti Catalyst Copy right reserved by TeamAROHAN

  7. EXPERIMENTAL SET UP FOR RECYCLING SEA WATER ELECTROLYSIS SOLAR ENERGY CONVERSION CO2 RECYCLING METHANE GAS PRODUCTION CO2 CH4 SALT DEPOSITED H+ CATALYST Copy right reserved by TeamAROHAN

  8. WHAT’SNEW???

  9. ADVANTAGES • CO2 will not be a problem for green house effect. • Reduction in pollution level • Energy crisis will be solved. • Use of CO2 in medical field. • Drinkable water obtained. Copy right reserved by TeamAROHAN

  10. CONCLUSION Recycling of CO2 - a very useful and productive step in controlling global warming and keeping Mother Earth green. Copy right reserved by TeamAROHAN
