  2. What is a political party? • Any group of 3 or more persons seeking ASUCR elected positions • The members of the party must mutually agree on the party name • The members of the party must mutually agree on at least 1, but preferred 3, party platform stances

  3. Limitations on a party • A party cannot compose more than the following amount of candidates • a. One Presidential candidate • b. One Executive Vice-Presidential candidate • c. One Vice President of Internal Affairs candidate • d. One Vice President of External Affairs candidate • e. One Outreach Director candidate • f. One Personnel Director candidate • g. One Marketing and Promotions Director candidate • h. One Elections Director candidate • i. Ten CHASS Senatorial candidates • j. Four CNAS Senatorial candidates • h. Two BCOE Senatorial candidates

There's more….diversity recommendation • -In terms of extracurricular activities, such as student organizations or Greek life participation, the Elections Committee strongly encourages that individuals that compose a party are not all related due to the same extracurricular activity • -push for your party to be representative of UCR’s diverse population! • -the more diverse your party is, allows you to outreach to a larger pool of potential voters

  5. SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD IDEA…? • WE THINK SO TOO! • HERE ARE THE STEPS YOU NEED TO TAKE TO FORM AND RUN IN A POLITICAL PARTY IN THE ASUCR SPRING ELECTIONS…

  6. NEW PARTY CREATION • -create a name for your party • -become the party signatory (person with all rights to the name of the party and has the power to act on behalf of the party) • -submit IN PERSON to the elections director a written New Party Registration Form • -wait for approval by the EC • -create a party roster form and list the candidates in your party • -fill out and submit a party campaign platform form
