Introducing Partnerships to School Stakeholders • Mobilize key stakeholders and resources to create changes. • Share current resources or the lack thereof. • Discuss most salient needs of the school. • Articulate the need for partnership support. • Establish buy-in with key stakeholders by discussing the rationale for a partnership. • Communicate rationale for partnership with the larger school community.
Cultivating Relationships with Partnerships • Articulate school’s strengths/weaknesses. • Create trust with school partners. • Establish clear line of communication. • Form common understanding. • Choose an effective group structure for iterative partnership collaboration with key stakeholders. • Establish benchmarks for ongoing monitoring. • Set up standing meetings between principal and partnership heads. • Develop vision of long-term, sustainable change.
Aligning Goals of Partnership Goal 1: 100% Graduation • How does/will the partnership support the matriculation/retention of students? Goal 4: Parent & Community Engagement • How does/will the partnership work alongside the school to increase parental engagement. Reflection ExerciseStart – Stop – Continue The SSC is a helpful strategy for establishing baseline data and developing a common understanding of stakeholders’ perceptions of the current situation.
Reflection Exercise “Round Robin” & “Gallery Walk” (continued) • Assemble into groups of four. • Each member will number off 1 – 4. • “Round Robin” – Each group member will share, in one minute, their practices of collaborating with partners on their campus with their group. • Following the “Round Robin,” each group will collectively identify practices of partnership collaboration their respective schools need to “Start,” “Stop,” or “Continue.” • The third member of each group will be the designated scribe. • Each group will record their responses on chart paper. • “Gallery Walk” – Each group will observe each other’s reflective responses to understand varying perspectives of the “Dos” and “Don’ts” of partnership collaboration.
