  3. Literary Context • Wrote about the Jazz Age of the 20’s • Great Depression of the 30’s • Mainly about my personal life, including Zelda and my mother, Mary • Stories depict a time in my life • Autobiographical

  4. Audience • First, I wrote for students at Princeton. • Started to write for Adults, my age. • After I died, Great Gatsby began to be assigned in every High School. • I wrote Modernism, Horror, American Gothic. • Rarely Romanticism

  6. Literary Criticism • Great Gatsby got great reviews but did not sell as well as I expected. • Curious Case of Benjamin Button is now a movie (90 years later.) • This Side of Paradise was best selling, alive. • Gatsby sold most after I died.

  7. Epilogue • Used personal life to become successful. • First to write about the Modern Times. • First to comment on lack of moral structure in Americans. • Brought to our attention; American is Changing, for the worst.
