How we use databases • Databases are used in many different ways, and there are many different types of databases a few of these are: Operational databases, Data warehouses, Analytic databases, Distributed databases. • We use databases to extract useful information. There are many places databases are used for example the police have a database of all known criminals and crimes committed. Banks use databases to make a record of payment and other important details.
Why we use databases • Quick and easy to locate information. • Easy to add and delete information. • Cannot be damaged like paper. • More than one person can access the same database at one time. • More secure than paper. • Can be ordered more easily.
Database Structure • The structure of a database consists of different fields. These fields can contain different record types which can be text or numerical values.
