Beck Weathers Left For Dead
Mind • Compares himself to an alcoholic—something he MUST do. • Left for dead three times. • Spend 15 hours in the snow and cold. • Wakes up to images of his family. • Giving up was NOT an option. • He wasn’t ready to die. • Thought his hands could be saved, but knew his injuries were severe. • His scars will remind him of what has happened and to be thankful. • Will do whatever it takes to get back to work.
Body • Massive frostbite—face, nose (falls off), loses his right hand completely and fingers on his left hand. • Multiple surgeries to reconstruct his hand and nose. • Muscle from back and temple to construct a mitt on his left hand. • Cartilage from his ear and skin from his forehead to reconstruct his nose.
Family • Didn’t spend enough time with his family and needs to make up for it. • Unfinished business with his family. • Tension in the marriage—on the verge of divorce. • Two people living in the same house, but living separate lives. • Peach describes herself as, “A pawn in a game of chess she didn’t want to play.” • Peach is bitter with the selfish decision her husband made. • Fear and sorrow learning of his death then being still alive.
Soul • Sold his soul to the devil and the devil won. • Obsession with climbing the mountain—would do ANYTHING to climb. • Not a spiritual man, but admits that a greater force and the prayers of others saved him. • Why did he survive and others died?
