The “Lobby” – Default View • Communications: Email & Announcements
The Lobby • Course List, My Course Info, • Communication: Email & Chat (only with teacher, not other students) • Course Map – Will list all units and assignments for the highlighted course. • Next Activity – will always take you to the “next activity”, you cannot work out of order.
Organizer (button on the right) • Reports: • Assignment Calendar – check frequently • Review scores on completed assignments, • Check teacher feedback on scores by clicking on ‘pencil icon’. Very important! • Communications: • Email notifications – Check these every day! • Announcements – read always • Resources – Orientation video • Power – always takes you back to Dashboard.
Send an Email • In Organizer, click on Communications. • Choose ‘Email’, then Compose, towards the bottom middle. • On the top, click on ‘Select Recipient’. • Scroll down the menu to ‘Frank Fenn’ and select. • Click ‘Add Recipient’. • Type your Name on the Subject line. • Type your intro message to Mr. Fenn in the text box. Say hello and tell 3 things about you and your ‘likes’. Be sure to use complete sentences. • Click Send on the bottom right.
Activities • Select/highlight a GA course from the list of courses. • Click on ‘Course Map’ at the bottom of the screen.
10 Tips for Online Student SUCCESS! • Establish a school day routine • at least 1hr per course per day, with small breaks in between, much like a real school day. • Be organized – use pacing calendars, keep notebooks, stay on track • Eliminate distractions • no social media, text messaging, loud environments • set aside the time, nobody bothers you, focus on schoolwork only. • Check your emails and announcements EVERY DAY! • keep your own calendar for important due dates • Take Notes • while listening to video lectures, or from text while reading. • Check your grades and teacher feedback – will help you on retakes or resubmission directions.
10 Tips for Online Student SUCCESS! • Ask for help! • Call, email, or text the teacher as soon as you get stuck on something! • Don’t give up! • Take advantage of retakes, redo’s and resubmissions. • Attend live online video tutoring sessions. • Each teacher has a different schedule. • If you miss a session, watch the recording! • Avoid plagiarism / cheating. • Do not ‘copy & paste’ work from the internet. • Do not submit another student’s work as your own. • If you do, you will be subject to the disciplinary procedures of Henry County Schools, academic probation, up to removal from Impact Academy.
Pre & Post Quizzes/Tests • You MUST answer ALL questions. • Exit & Submit = will close the quiz and submit results. • Submit Complete = will tell you what you made and give you options on the bottom. • “Next Activity” will open the next one in order. You cannot work out of order.
Vocabulary • You must complete the steps. • Type the word, with correct spelling. • Read the definition and example. • Take notes using eNotes! (you might get to use them on the post-quizzes!) • No copy and paste is allowed in text boxes.
Direct Instruction • No eNotes = NO RETAKES on quizzes. • everything is time-stamped, start and stop times. • Must watch the video COMPLETELY to the end. You may rewind, but not fast forward the first viewing. • Take NOTES!
Assignments • Online content – usually graded • Opens new window in Edgenuity, complete the interactives. • Practice problems, writing prompts, etc. • Study guides before quizzes. (Take notes!) • Quizzes = 10 MCQ’s, notes allowed. • Topic Test = 25 MCQ’s, no notes.
Back to the Dashboard • Course Completed = Pacing • Color coded. Stay in the GREEN or BLUE! • Grading – 2 types • Overall Grade = avg. of all completed work. • Actual Grade = up to target date (due dates) with ‘zeros’. = Recorded on school transcript • Feel free to just click around in the platform. You won’t break it. . .
