WHAT IS TEACHING KWOLEDGE TEST (TKT)? Is a test developedby Cambridge ESOLforteachers of Englishtospeakers of otherlanguages. TKT testscandidates’ knowledge of conceptsrelatedtolanguage, language use and thebackgroundto and practice of languageteaching and learning.
RECOGNISED WORLDWIDE Cambridge ESOL Teaching Qualifications are recognised by organisations which employ English language teachers as providing quality teacher training and development. Cambridge ESOL works with international ELT organisations to ensure the acceptance of TKT globally.
TEST STRUCTURE TKT consists of three modules which can betakentogether, orseparately, in anyorder. Module 1 – Background to language teaching Module 2 – Planning for language teaching Module 3 – Classroom management Practical – Assessment of teaching competence
Module 1 test? This module tests your knowledge of the terms and concepts common in English language teaching. It also focuses on the core knowledge underpinning the learning of English and knowledge of the options and resources you can use in the classroom.
Module 2 test? This module focuses on the knowledge and skills you need to be able to plan a lesson framework or series of lessons. Teaching in this context also refers to any assessment required by you to consolidate learning. It also focuses on the resources that are available to guide you in your lesson planning.
Module 3 test? This module tests your knowledge of what happens in the classroom during language learning, the teacher’s role and the ways in which you can manage and exploit classroom events and interactions.
