BEFORE YOU BEGIN ODOT RUCPP Overview Please visit ODOT online at the participant website for more information regarding the RUCPP. http://www.oregon.gov/ODOT/HWY/RUFPP/Pages/rucppvolunteers.aspx It is important that this Mileage Reporting Device is installed in the same vehicle it was registered to during account set up. For a better connection perform installation outdoors or in a well – lit place. For your safety, ensure that your vehicle ignition is OFF during installation. ODOT Road Usage Charge Pilot Program (RUCPP) Mileage Reporting Device (or OBU) QUICK INSTALL GUIDE Notes: If your OBUbecomes disconnected for any reason, simply repeat the “How to Install 1, 2, 3 steps. Under specific circumstances, in a small number of vehicles, drivers may experience intermittent noise over the sound system when nearby cellular equipment is communicating with the network. The noises are consistent with GSM mobile phones placed near unshielded audio equipment. Please contact the RUCPP Help Desk if this occurs in your vehicle. HOW TO INSTALL 1 2 3 LOCATE YOUR OBD-II PORT PLUG IN YOUR Mileage Recording Device WE’LL CONTACT YOU IF THERE IS AN ISSUE Your vehicle’s OBD-II port is a 16-pin connecter (outlet) typically located on the driver’s side underneath the dashboard. Exact locations may vary from vehicle to vehicle; look carefully as the port may be covered. Contact the RUCPP Help Desk if you are having trouble finding the port in your vehicle. Carefully align the connectors on the Mileage Reporting Device with your OBD-II port and gently push to secure it without twisting or forcing. It is important to ensure the Mileage Reporting Device does not interfere with your ability to safely enter, exit or operate your vehicle. If so, carefully remove and contact the RUCPP Help Desk. Once installed, it is important you wait 1-2 minutes before starting your vehicle to allow the Mileage Reporting Device to configure. Your mileage data will be automatically recorded and sent for processing. If no lights illuminate or flash when the vehicle running, please contact the RUCPP Help Desk.
