  3. Measure the depth of the river at 6 equal spaces.

  5. Measure the speed or velocity of the river. • Measure 5 Meters along the river • Drop a cork into the river • Using a stop watch see how long it takes to travel 5 meters. • Speed = distance/time.

  7. Slope and Vegetation Investigation. • Record major vegetation type. • Minor vegetation type • pH, soil moisture, light. • What is the area like?

  8. Measuring the Angle of the Slope. • The angle of the slope is measured using a clinometer. • A reading is taken every 15 Meters. • Starting from the edge of the river, up hill.
