  2. God’s 2 Ways of Communicating • The word, and the Word. • They are in perfect harmony • Gen. 2:7 – Man became a living soul. • Now, thru Jesus, the soul lives again. • Eph. 2:1; John 5:26; 6:33; 11:25 • The Light – Isa. 9:2 (quoted in Matt. 4:15-16); John 8:12; Eph. 5:13; John 12:35-43

  3. Jesus Brings Things To “Light” • Lois and the picnic table. • A picture is worth 1000 words. Jesus is the “Picture”. • Others had talked of Him – but now we see – John 14:7 • Mercy, compassion, purity, justice, truth, holiness

  4. We See Ourselves in This New Light • Am I a hypocrite? • A righteous man? • Compared to the “ancient of days”, we are all children. • We don’t just see ourselves, but how He loves and receives us. • If we seek Him.

  5. He Shows Us The Way of Salvation • Do what God says. • Matt. 3:13-17 • “But the Pharisees and the lawyers rejected God’s purpose for themselves, not having been baptized by John” (Lk. 7:30). • Keep on doing What God Says.

  6. Our Reaction To The Light • Warnings – Jer. 13:15-16; Prov. 4:12, 18-19. • Love truth – John 3:21 • Reject truth – John 1:10; 3:16-21 • Ignore truth – John 1:5 (they confused a man [John] with truth.) Still do today. • It’s not enough to honor and adore Him – we must imitate Him. • Have you “seen the light”? Matt. 5:14ff
