  1. Graphing Using x & y Intercepts Algebra Honors

  2. Finding the x & y intercepts. Write the equation in standard form first Ax + By = C

  3. To find the x – intercept~ where the graph crosses the x-axis ~ 2 Methods: Pick one. 1st Method: Cover up the y term and solve for x. 2x + 3y = 6 2x = 6 x = 3 2nd Method: Plug in 0 for y and solve for x. 2x + 3y = 6 2x + 3(0) = 6 2x = 6 x = 3

  4. To find the y – intercept~ where the graph crosses the y-axis ~ 2 Methods: Pick one. 1st Method: Cover up the x term and solve for y. 2x + 3y = 6 3y = 6 y = 2 2nd Method: Plug in 0 for x and solve for y. 2x + 3y = 6 2(0) + 3y = 6 3y = 6 y = 2

  5. Graph using X & Y intercepts. 2x + 5y = 10 (5, 0)x-intercept (0, 2)y-intercept

  6. Graph using X & Y intercepts. 8x + y = 4 (1/2, 0)x-intercept (0, 4)y-intercept

  7. Graph using X & Y intercepts. 3x + 4y = 24 (8, 0)x-intercept (0, 6)y-intercept

  8. Graph using X & Y intercepts. 3x + 2y = 6 (2, 0)x-intercept (0, 3)y-intercept

  9. Graph using X & Y intercepts. 4x -3y = 12 (3, 0)x-intercept (0,-4)y-intercept

  10. Graph using X & Y intercepts. X = 5 (5,0) x-intercept NO y-intercept

  11. Graph using X & Y intercepts. 4x - 5y = 10 (5/2, 0)x-intercept (0,-2)y-intercept

  12. Graph using X & Y intercepts. x -2y = 4 (4,0) x-intercept (0,-2)y-intercept

  13. Graph using X & Y intercepts. y = 7 NO x-intercept (0,7)y-intercept
