Portfolio Item number one- Create an electric concept map using Inspiration This portfolio needed us to create an inspiration mind-map, which evaluated three collaborative online projects. We needed to state why these projects would aid in teaching. Inspiration could be used as a ICT tool for learning as it allows students to organise their information in a neat and tidy way. By using the computer to do such and exercise, creating a mind-map, children might be more excited to create one as doing it manually by hand it can be quite boring. Also Inspiration allows students to insert picture into the mind-map to represent whatever it is they are discussing. By being able to do so, it creates a more exciting looking mind-map compared to that done by hand. My Portfolio item number one
Portfolio Item number two- Web searching and document production In this task we were to use three different search engines and evaluate the results found, in terms of speed, relevance to the search termsand accuracy. I believe that this skillwill be useful for students learning as they will be able to see which websites are more accurate them others in terms of information found . It can also prove effective as the students will be able to filter through irrelevant information and will only use relevant websites for what they are searching. Word, which is used to present this portfolio item, can be useful for students to present their work, whether it is from just a piece of writing to creating a table of information. Students will come across the need to use word processor all throughout their schooling. So therefore it is important that they understand how to use word at a young age. My portfolio item number two
Portfolio Item number three- An Excel Grade Book and graph This task needed us to create an excel file which would act as a grade book which included students marks (which needed to be converted into a graph. It needed to contain at least two formulas. Excel is an ICT program which can be used as a tool of learning. It can be a way for children to record any needed information which includes numbers in a neat way. It can also be helpful for students so they can convert this information into a graph. Excel can also be useful to teachers to provide an organised way of recording marks for their students. My portfolio item number three
Portfolio Item number four- Create your own Photo Story This portfolio item required us to create a story using pictures and sounds. The story which is presented during my Photo Story movies is that of friendship on a holiday. This particular ICT program can create an interesting and fun way for students to present information and tell a story. This is a tool which can show the creative side of a pupil. This is an ICT program which most students will enjoy working with and will allow students to have some fun whilst creating a story. My portfolio item number four
Portfolio Item number five- Evaluate two WebQuests This portfolio item required us to evaluate two separate webquests. We were to give them a mark according to the assessment rubric. WebQuests will prove as a great ICT tool for learning as it will be interactive for the students. Students will need to complete task which will all be laid out for them on each page of the webquest. It is an effective way that teachers can ensure that their students are using the correct websites to find the information needed for the given task and a way for teachers to allow their students to have some impact on their own learning rather then the teacher constantly being in-front of their class lecturing. Portfolio Item number six- Design and produce a digital portfolio using PowerPoint. • The final portfolio item, we were to add all of our previous portfolio items into a PowerPoint. From here were we to hyperlink all our items so that they could be accessed from the PowerPoint. Also on each slide we were to provide a brief reflection about how this ICT could be used as a tool for learning. • PowerPoint can be used as a tool for learning as it allows students to display their information in a creative way. PowerPoint allows people to insert pictures, videos and music which combined make a very interesting presentation. It also allows students to animate the text and the graphics which a placed in the document. PowerPoint can be summed up as an interesting and exciting ICT program to display information. • My Portfolio item number six
