Working with mixed numbers – converting to improper fractions
Steps: • Multiply the denominator by the whole number. • Add the numerator. • The denominator stays the same.
Working with improper fractions- converting to mixed numbers
Steps • Divide the numerator by the denominator. “Fall to the side and divide” • The quotient becomes the new whole number. • The remainder becomes the numerator. • The denominator does not change from the original number. • Make sure you simplify/reduce the fractions.
