    2. OBJECTIVES To promote, develop and propagate Urdu language To take action for making available in Urdu language the knowledge of scientific and technological development as well as knowledge of ideas evolved in the modern context. To advise the Government of India on issues connected with Urdu language and having bearing on education as may be referred to it. To undertake other projects for the promotion of Urdu language as may be deemed fit by the Council.

    3. TECHNICAL EDUCATION To link Urdu language to the knowledge of scientific and technological development and the knowledge of ideas evolved in the modern context, NCPUL has started certain technical courses like CAM-DTP Course and Calligraphy and Graphic Design course. Diploma in Computer Applications and Multilingual DTP. Diploma in Calligraphy and Graphic Design.

    5. Diploma in Computer Applications and Multilingual DTP Transfer of information technology to language and making Urdu speaking boys and girls part of employable technological work force of India. The Council establishes Computer Application and Multilingual DTP Centres (CAM DTP) across the country. Upto March 2009, 58094 students have been awarded Diploma under this Scheme. During the year 2008-09, 16980 students including 5586 girl students have been admitted in July and October sessions to pursue this course.

One Year Diploma in Urdu Language To fulfill the requirement of a large number of learners across the country and popularize Urdu language and its script across the country the Council has launched a one year Diploma in Urdu course through Hindi and English mediums. This course has received an overwhelming response throughout the country. The physical as well as financial target for the scheme was decided as per the existing norms of the Council. However, Council decided to run Urdu correspondence course through accredited Centres and has established 287 Urdu Study Centres throughout the country to run the Diploma course in Urdu and provided necessary assistance to NGOs who run our course, as per revised norms of the Scheme. This caused the variation in the proposed and achieved targets under this head.

    36. GRANT-IN-AID (Arabic & Persian) Government of India recognizes the importance of classical languages Arabic and Persian in preserving the cultural heritage of India.     51. Publications NCPUL is the principal Urdu publication house under the Government of India. The publications of NCPUL have been rated very high in the academic circles, 1056 Titles published up to June 2009. The focus of publication programme remains on production of quality children literature and textbooks for Urdu medium schools.     55. Construction of office building at Jasola, New Delhi. Land measuring 830.40 sq.m. was allotted by DDA and Ministry of HRD awarded project to M/S Ed.CIL for construction and approved budget outlay of Rs.369.00 lakhs inclusive of all components, main building work, services, development work, interior work superior specification civil works, consultancy fee, capital equipment, internal electricity and UPS together with centrally Air conditioning system, service tax etc. The civil work is in full swing for completion.
