  4. Key Skills: Quality Assurance • Internal assessment must be carried out by someone with the necessary expertise • Internal moderation/standardisation is required where two or more assessors are assessing the same key skill • To ensure all candidates are judged to the same standard across different assessors and programmes

  5. Key Skills: Quality Assurance • Involves sampling assessor judgements, NOT a re-assessment. • Sampling should cover: • All assessors • All components of Part B • Assessment records and logbooks • Records should be kept.

  6. Key Skills: Formative Moderation • Available on request from 1 September 2006 up to 31 March 2007 • Purpose is to help centres correctly apply the standards and identify deficiencies in advance of external moderation • Carried out through postal inspection and/or centre visit

  7. Key Skills: External Moderation • Entries at four times – November January, March and May • Evidence can be in separate portfolios, integrated, combined, ‘tracked’ across programmes and wholly in Welsh, English or dual language.

  8. Key Skills: External Moderation • Each level is sampled and, where necessary, assessors and programmes • Designated Principal Moderators responsible for Key Skills through the medium of Welsh. • Carried out through postal inspection and/or standards moderation visit.

  9. Key Skills: Accredited Centres • Reduces the level of external moderation whilst maintaining rigour • Centre to demonstrate robust quality assurance, efficient administration and correct application of the standards • Any centre can apply by completing the Centre Registration form
