INTASC STANDARD • Standard #9: Professional Learning and Ethical Practice • The teacher engages in ongoing professional learning and uses evidence to continually evaluate his/her practice, particularly the effects of his/her choices and actions on others (learners, families, other professionals, and the community), and adapts practice to meet the needs of each learner.

  3. Mission and Vision Statement • The mission of Brookside Elementary is that students will become respectful, responsible, peaceful and lifelong learners. Brookside Elementary staff, parents and community partners work hard to encourage the above mission and advance Brookside’s goal of raising student achievement.

  4. Brookside Elementary School’s history begins in 1865 as a two room framed school house serving neighborhood children.   In 1886 a new four room brick building was erected across the street on land that houses Brookside Elementary today.   In the early 1900’s Brookside Elementary saw rapid growth in their student population and several additions were made History

  5. sCHOOLINFORMATIon Brookside Elementary is a contemporary, urban school building serving children in kindergarten through 6th grade. Brookside Elementary is located in Brookside Neighborhood on the near eastside of Indianapolis.  Six hundred and thirty nine students attend Brookside Elementary from six near eastside neighborhoods.

  15. CONCLUSION • Brookside elementary school ISTEP score are on the low side but they are making progress to improve. As we saw in the graph, their scores have increased in past few years. With the support of the community and great work the teachers are doing the students will continue to improve.
