  3. WHAT TO EXPECT IBAT will provide a rigorous college and career preparatory for students with an emphasis on business/entrepreneurship and technology.

  4. OUR MISSION The Mission of IBTA is to provide all students with an engaging, challenging, learning environment that integrates business and technology, encourages academic excellence, social responsibility, and personal qualities for success in life. IBTA will ensure knowledge and skills needed to make successful transitions to college and careers.

  5. OUR VISION IBTA is a community that develops students’ focus and essential life skills by promoting academic excellence and personal integrity

Through a variety of avenues including special parent meetings, school open houses, and parent/teacher conferences, students will present their work to panels of parents, community, and business representatives during the school year, giving them a sense of real-world accountability; this also allows schools to share work and successes with the broader public.Staff will provide opportunities for interested parties to get involved and provide input. PLAN FOR COMMUNITY, PARENT, AND STUDENT INVOLVEMENT con’t • Outreach efforts include: • Retreat for parents, students and teachers • Open House • Professional Development meetings with staff and students • Parent Nights • Presentations for Parent-Teacher-Student night • Presentations for community • Parent/Student Newspaper

Prevention: Through broad commitments to well-defined curriculum, content standards, and extensive professional development, we will improve our capacity to raise achievement for all children, not just for low performing students. Teachers will deepen their knowledge and expertise in conveying the curriculum, and all students in their classrooms will benefit from improved instruction. IEP for every student: Personalize each student’s education, possibly to the extent of using some type of IEP for every student. The Learning Contract: Parents will be asked to sign and support Learning Contracts for their students at the beginning of the school year. Learning Contract I asks parents to make a commitment to helping the teachers and students achieve the learning goals for their classes. Learning Contract I will include actions that parents can take, such as making sure that students attend all classes and asking about the classwork and homework students are doing. Program for Academic Improvement and Recoverycon’t • Intervention: Through a comprehensive set of strategies within and beyond the instructional day and year, students will receive the support they need as soon as they are identified as struggling academically. Through the accelerated program, students who are significantly below grade level will have the opportunity to catch up early in their school career. As a result of these interventions in subsequent years classroom teachers will have better-prepared students in their classrooms, so the overall level of instruction can be higher.

  10. Program for Academic Improvement and Recoverycon’t • The Recovery Contract is a both a communication device for informing parents and students, and a monitoring tool to keep track of the process of identifying and helping at-risk students. The Recovery Contract explains to parents how the student was identified as being at risk and what interventions and supports are recommended. The Contract clearly states that students may fail if they do not meet the performance criteria, and they have not participated in the available intervention programs and extended learning opportunities and supports. • The Recovery Contract will be developed by teachers and will include specific programs for students, such as before or after school sessions, tutoring during lunch periods, summer school, evening school or longer classes i.e., recovery programs that will help students meet standards. The teacher, parent/guardian, and the student will sign the contract. • Parents will be given clear information by school staff regarding consequences to students if students do not participate in the interventions and fail to meet academic criteria.

CULMINATING PROJECTS/ACTIVITIES con'd • Students taught by professionals • Investment bankers, accountants, attorneys, marketing and technology executives • Culminates with visit to Chicago Mercantile Exchange • Weeklong trip to New York with a visit to New York Stock Exchange hosted by Deutsche Bank

CULMINATING PROJECTS/ACTIVITIES con'd • YAB Advanced Camp • For students who have completed basic camp • Winning teams will go to Championship Camp • Championship Camp Competition • Students treated like corporate executives • Cruising and eating at finer restaurants in New York • Winning team also receives shares of stock in a major corporation
