Background • Fewer minorities and students from low-income families enter into and persist in science and engineering degree programs. • Barriers • Minority students lacks knowledge and exposure to opportunities in the science and engineering fields. • Minority and low-income students rarely view science and engineering as viable career options. • In Southwest Florida, the surrounding five-county area is relatively new in terms of industrial growth. • Many of the existing communities are located in rural areas.

Program Objectives • To improve student skills in mathematics • To expose students to real-world math and its application in related career fields • To increase the students’ awareness of STEM fields • To expose students to processes that will increase their likelihood of being accepted into college

NAACP – Naples, FL Our *ACT-SO program and the FGCU partnership works to achieve one of NAACP’s goals of preparing students for today’s marketplace Goals To mobilize the adult community for the promotion of classroom and after-school excellence To recognize academic excellence among youth on par with the recognition awarded athletics To provide and assist students with the necessary skills and tools to established goals and acquire the confidence and training to make a successful contribution to society

Platinum • Platinum: $56,483 - Sponsor underwrites the entire cost of the program. • Benefits • Sponsor gets naming rights for the program. • Sponsor gets the first refusal rights to underwrite the following year’s STEM program. • Sponsor gets the first opportunity to interview high school seniors for summer internship positions. • Sponsor can be a single-segment presenter at the workshop • Sponsor gets on-campus recognition as the sole underwriter of the Pre-Collegiate Summer STEM Camp. • Sponsor is recognized as the sole Underwriter at the “Black Tie” dinner. • Sponsors website will be accessible through a link on both the FGCU & NAACP website.

GOLD • Gold Sponsor $15,000 - (In the event there is not a Platinum Sponsor) Sponsor(s) get the right of first refusal to co-sponsor the following year’s program. • Benefits • Sponsor(s) get the first opportunity to interview high school seniors for summer internship positions. • Sponsor(s) get on-campus recognition as the co- sponsor for the Pre-Collegiate Summer STEM Camp Program. • Sponsor gets the first opportunity to interview high school seniors for summer internship positions. • Sponsor can be a single-segment presenter at the workshop. • Sponsors will be recognized on an on-campus plaque as a co-sponsor of the Pre-Collegiate STEM Camp. • Co-Sponsors will be recognized at the “Black Tie” dinner. • Sponsors website will be accessible through a link on both the FGCU & NAACP website.

  24. SILVER • Silver Sponsor $10,000 (in the event there is not a Platinum Sponsor). • Benefits • Silver Sponsors get 2nd round opportunities to interview high school students for summer internship positions. • Sponsor(s) will be recognized at the “Black Tie” dinner. • Sponsors website will be accessible through a link on both the FGCU & NAACP website
