  4. How to calculate WPM • Step 1: Count the number of words in the first four lines of text and divide by four • Multiply this number by the number of lines you read

  5. Averages • Average person reads at a rate of 150-250 wpm • This varies based on • difficulty of material • focus • surroundings • interest in material
