  2. Chhattisgarh : An Overview A newly created state in central India, Chhattisgarh is the one of the most diversified states of the country. Around 44 per cent of the state's total area is under forest cover that provides amazing diversity to Chhattisgarh. Endowed with rich-natural diversity, Chhattisgarh is full of rare wildlife, thickly forested hills, beautiful waterfalls and much more. 

  3. Bilaspur • Bilaspur (Hindi: बिलासपुर) is a city in Bilaspur District in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh, situated 111 km (69 mi) north of state capital, Raipur. It is the second-largest city in the state. It is the administrative headquarter of Bilaspur district. Chhattisgarh State High Court at Bilaspur privilege it to host the name 'Nyayadhani'((Hindi: न्याय धानी) Law Capital) of the state. • Bilaspur is known for its aromatic Doobrajrice, handloomwoven colorful soft KosasilkSaris, and more for its rich, varied and colorful culture. Bilaspur District has a major contribution towards the naming of Chhattisgarh as "Dhaan Ka Katora".

  5. Climate Due to its strategic position on the tropic of cancer, Chhattisgarh boasts of a hot climate. The climate of the state is mainly tropical, humid and sub-humid. April, May and June are hot months, while the weather remains cold between November and February. The monsoon arrives in late-June and rain fall occurs till the end of September. October to March is the ideal time to visit Chhattisgarh.

  6. Connectivity • Air : Bilaspur Airport is at Chakarbhatta where domestic as well as international flights are soon going to start. The nearest airport is at Raipur which has regular flights for all the major cities in India as well as international flights. • Rail : Bilaspur is the headquarters of the South- East Central Railways(SECR) and is connected to all major cities across India with its vast rail network. • Road :The city is connected with most of the metropolitans as well as towns and cities by its varied roadways. Bilaspur is on NH-200 connecting Raipur and Raigarh on either side.

Importance • Bilaspur is the headquarters of the South-Eastern Coal Fields Ltd.(SECL ; one of the largest coal producing areas of the country) • Bilaspur is bestowed with Asia’s biggest High Court established since 2009. • Bilaspur is also the largest district of Asia. • Bilaspur has major industries in and around it. The Bhilai Steel Plant and NTPC Korba are some of the most important industries which are a boon to the National Economy.

  9. Apollo Hospital, Bilaspur • Apollo Hospitals, Bilaspur was established in October 2001. It was the first multi-specialty tertiary care hospital in the state of Chhattisgarh.   11. Eco - Tourism • Chhattisgarh is a treasure trove of natural wonders and bestowed with lush green forests, verdant valleys, huge rivers and water bodies. Besides the natural attractions, the presence of many ethnic tribal groups adds up more diversity to the beautiful state of Chhattisgarh. • One of the places worth visiting is the Achanakmar Wildlife Sanctuary. Famous for the variety of its wildlife, the sanctuary is spread over an area of 551 km² (213 mi²) and was set up in 1975 under the Wildlife Protection Act.

  13. Tourist Attractions • Talagaon - Talagaon is famous for "Deorani-Jethani" temple and is situated approx. 25 Kms. from Bilaspur. There is a wonderful statue of Lord Shiva known as the “Rudra Shiva” only one of its kind in the whole world present in the temple which is approx. 7 ft. high, 4 ft. wide and weighs around 8 tons. • Khutaghat - It is a dam located approx. 10 Kms. from Bilaspur. It is surrounded with beautiful forests and hills and is a feast to the eyes.

  14. Malhar - (Saravpur) Once open a time the Capital of ancient Chhattisgarh. At this place remains have been found of the period dated approx. 1000 BC. The temples of 10th and 11th century can also be seen here. Among these PataleshwarKedar temple is one of them where GaumukhiShiv ling is the main site of attraction. • Ratanpur - One of the most religiously celebrated architecturally superb and culturally rich temple of Mahamaya Devi is situated in Ratanpur. It is also one of the ShaktiPeeths of India.
