  3. Camp Rising Sun • Located in Rhinebeck, New York (100 miles north of Manhattan) • Experiential Leadership Program • Full scholarship • Interested and interestingstudents (ages 14-16)

Defining Our Goals • Foster an appreciation of diversity and friendship across boundaries of color, religion, gender, culture and nationality. • Expand intellectual, artistic and cultural horizons. • Develop servant leadership that supports and motivates others. • Foster compassion for, and service to, others as essential to character.

  6. A typical day at CRS

  7. Instructions • Each day Campers may join any one of a variety of presentations or workshops offered by staff, visiting alumni, guests, or other campers.

  8. Projects Campers work in self-chosen, peer-led groups on construction and other projects designed to add benefit to the community for succeeding generations.

  9. Project Management skills are DEVELOPED AND practiced

  10. Artistic Expression • Music • Drama • Visual Arts • Performing Arts • Field Trips

  11. Outdoor Leadership Experiences Outdoor activities include hiking and camping trips

  12. Swimming, Canoeing, Tennis, Basketball, Soccer, Football, Volleyball and other sports

  13. Team Work To foster the feeling of ownership, and to give another opportunity for peer leadership, campers take responsibility for maintaining their living and learning spaces.

  14. Unstructured Time Several hours are available each day during which campers may choose to follow their own interests - participate in a variety of sports, practice yoga, continue Instructions or projects, cool-off in the pool, or continue small group discussions.
