Transferable skills • My transferable skills don’t all come from working in DARO • Take 10 minutes in small groups to think through the transferrable skills you currently have • How did you get them? • How might you further develop them? • What can you do in your current role to gain more skills? • What can you do outside of your current role to gain more skills?
Career Plan • Managing a CASE Educational Fundraising intern from September to give me line-management skills • Working with the Major Gift team on fundraising approaches to develop my fundraising skills • Developing staff, student and parent fundraising programmes • All of the above either fit into my role, or have been added to my role and I manage my time to ensure that I can do them as well as maintain expected standards in my current role
Top tips • Get involved! • Think about how to build upon/improve current practises within the office • Take initiative and be brave • Be confident in your abilities and think about your role creatively • Think about what you can do beyond the office to get transferable skills • Update your CV regularly
