Why People litter • People are to lazy to dispose to trash properly - Some people don’t care • Not aware they are littering • Think others will pick up their trash - Don’t have a trashcan near by

HOW MUCH IT COST • It cost our region $3,000,000 and 150,000 labor hours to pick up trash along our valley freeways • 51.2 billion pieces of litter are left on roadways in the United States equaling 6,729 pieces per mile • 12,647 bags of litter are picked up from Valley freeways each month, totaling 1.6 million lbs. of litter each year • per mile.
WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP You can catch litterbugs and turn them in You can just not litter You could also pick up trash and put then in a nearest trashcan
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO MAKE SURE WE STOP THE LITTERBUGS • Because if we don’t then they will kept littering and there get away with it • Also they will cost our economy millions of dollars and soon we’ll become out of money • Also soon our beautiful earth will become covered with trash
WHAT IT CAN CAUSE • It can cause our country to become in debt • It can also cause our nation to become filled with trash • Also it can cause animals can die from being covered with trash It can also cause overflowed landfills
What is the problem with litter? • • Every piece of litter damages our environment. • • Littering is an environmental crime. Litterers can be fined • from $105 on the spot or up to $6,289 if the matter is • prosecuted in court. • • Litter, such as cigarette butts, plastic bags and other • plastics, harms animal and marine life in a variety of ways: • • Through polluting the water they live in • • When these items are mistaken for food
