The Challenges to Evaluation Managers: 3.1 Protecting the interests of the Organisation • Return on investment • Utility and timeliness of evaluations • Policy relevance of work (but changing timeframes) • Publication of results, but within commissioner’s time frame 3.2 Protecting the interests of evaluators (internal and external evaluations) • Independence of evaluators • Ensuring findings are considered, disseminated and • translated into useful actions • Informing decision makers as to what evaluation can • reasonably be expected to deliver (not solving all the • problems – nor prescribing how to handle them) • In short - creating a supportive context for evaluation to inform strategy and practice
