  3. 6.3 Notes • Fold – the shape of the land or the bending of rock layers due to stress (can form mountains) • 2 types of folds: • Syncline – a fold that is curved down • Anticline – a fold that is curved up

  4. How and where are mountains created? • Mountains are created where two tectonic plates collide (convergent boundaries). When they collide the plates fold. Sometimes they fold too much and cause the plates to break (fault).
