2007 Upgrades in Process • 7 clients have completed 2nd mock • 39 have installed and are testing So start your upgrade and dance to the Millennium Rock
Upgrading from 2003 or Later • Review technology requirements for the release and develop the project plan • Install all packages necessary for upgrade into a full production copy • Complete regression testing and issue resolution • If the upgrade is going to take more than 90 days, take the latest CSP before starting integration testing • Complete integration test • Install all packages necessary for upgrade into another full copy of production. Treat as a practice for production • Upgrade production

Putting in CSPs • CSPs primarily contain corrections • Mock and Roll • Install (mock) into a full copy of production • Regression test, issue resolution • If the CSP is going to take more than 60 days to get to production, take the latest CSP before integration testing • Integration Test • Roll to production
Future Direction“Mock and Roll” that Upgrade • Upgrades will start to move in the direction of the CSP strategy. • Testing timeframe will be the primary driver for the time it takes to upgrade • Technical expertise is a requirement since there will only be one installation before production • Technical tools continue to evolve, decreasing the need for multiple practice runs • Cerner’s focus on delivering quality software is also a contributing factor • This process is being piloted by the Upgrade Center and CernerWorks
